I was in Honolulu last week for a quick visit. It doesn’t get much better than 80 degrees with light trade winds in Waikiki in February. Since I was in town, I also visited Leather Soul in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center (which is currently under renovation but already looks great). Also recommended: stroll down the newly constructed Waikiki Beach Walk (Lewers Ave) and have lunch at Roy’s.
By coincidence, I stopped by when a reporter from the Pacific Business News was doing a follow-up story on owner Tom Park. I mentioned that even in Los Angeles we don’t have an independent shoe store like Leather Soul selling both Aldens and Edward Greens under one roof.
Before leaving, I naturally picked up a pair of a Alden cigar shell wingtip boots in the Plaza last.
